Author guidelines

We kindly request that authors read these instructions carefully and follow them closely. This will enable us to guarantee that the review and publication of your manuscript will be completed as efficiently and promptly as possible. In the event that a manuscript does not comply with these instructions, the Editors reserve the right to reject it.

Authors should submit their article by e-mail in MS Word format to the email address revista@cig.ase.ro. The authors should submit the following files:

– a cover page – including the title of the paper, the name and affiliation of all contributing authors (the order should reflect the authors’ contribution, and for equal contributions the order should be alphabetical) with clear identification of the corresponding author, and acknowledgements (the authors are required to mention all sources of funding, to acknowledge any support received (data collection, analyses, editing etc.) and the usage of AI (Refer also to Publication ethics and AI Policy).

– an MS Word document with the blind version of the paper – including only the paper’s title, abstract, keywords, JEL codes and body.

– a statement of the fact that the paper has not been previously published, in English or another language, that the paper is the work of all and only the listed authors, that the work is original and that all the work of others is appropriately acknowledged.

– a statement regarding the use of AI assistance (Refer also to AI Policy).

The author(s) must ensure that the submitted manuscript is grammatically correct, without spelling errors.

The required general submission format of the MS Word document containing the blind version of the paper is as follows:

  • Language of the paper: English;
    Title: The use of concise and informative titles is a standard practice in information-retrieval systems. It is advisable to avoid the use of abbreviations and formulae wherever possible.
  • Abstract: maximum 250 words, following the format of a structured abstract;
    Content of the abstract: the abstract must include the research objectives and must present the contributions to the field. Authors should also supply 4-6 keywords that reflect the specificity of the paper, and adequate JEL codes;

    • Keywords: immediately following the abstract, include a maximum of six keywords. These should be written in English and consist of specific terms, ideally avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts. The use of abbreviations should be limited, and only those that are firmly established in the field may be considered. The keywords will be subsequently utilised for the purposes of indexing.
    • JEL codes: provide up to six standard JEL codes. The full list of available codes can be accessed via the JEL website.
    • Recommended length of the paper: 5,000-10,000 words;
    • Body of the paper: papers must include an overview of the appropriate literature, and present the paper’s motivation, research questions and method, findings, analyses of results and contributions, and conclusions.
      • Introduction: it is essential to clearly state the objectives of the work and to include a comprehensive background. As an example, you can use the John Swales’ CARS model for introductions;
      • Literature review: a rigorous examination and aggregation of existing research on a specific topic;
      • Research questions and method: it is important to provide sufficient details to allow the replication of your work. If the method adopted has already been published, it should be summarized and referenced accordingly. Furthermore, any modifications to existing methods must be described in detail.
      • Results: the results should be presented in a clear and concise manner.
      • Discussion: the objective of this section is to elucidate the import of the findings, rather than merely reiterating them. A combined Results and Discussion section is often an appropriate approach
      • Conclusions: this section serves two main functions: (1) summarizes and brings together the main findings of the study and (2) provides the author’s final comment regarding the findings. This selection also should include the research limitations and future research directions.

Headings – should be concise, numbered, with a clear distinction in the hierarchy of headings (1, 2, then 1.1, 1.2, and 1.1.1, 1.1.2 etc. if needed). The abstract is not included in the section numbering.

Figures – all figures should be in black, white and grey. They should be of high quality, labeled and numbered consecutively. Large figures (one page or so) should be presented as Appendix. A figure caption should consist of a brief title (which should not be displayed on the figure itself), a description of the illustration and the source. It is advisable to limit the amount of text included in the illustrations themselves, while ensuring that all symbols and abbreviations are adequately explained.

Tables – all tables should be prepared in MS Word (editable, not as images). All tables should be labeled and numbered consecutively, reflecting the order of appearance in the text. Large tables (one page or larger) should be presented as Appendices. Any supplementary information should be included in a note below the table. The use of tables should be limited (maximum 10 tables and/or figures in a paper), and the data presented in the tables should not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.

Appendices – if there is more than one appendix, they should be identified as A, B, etc.

Footnotes/Endnotes – Endnotes should be used if necessary. The use of footnotes is restricted only to the corresponding author’s details in the final version of the paper.

References – the Journal adopted the Harvard system for referencing, meaning that the name of the author and the date of publication are used as a key to the full bibliographical details which are set out in the references.

References to other publications within your manuscript must be written as follows:

Single author: (Kaplan, 2006)

Two authors:

  1. information prominent citation (Kaplan & Norton, 2006)
  2. author prominent citation: “according to Kaplan and Norton (2006) …”

Three or more authors: (Kaplan et al., 2006). Please note that ‘et al.’ should always be written in italics.

When specifying multiple references, you must arrange the references in a reverse chronological order: (Norbert, 2012; Norton et al., 2012; Kaplan & Norton, 2006)
Submissions should include a reference list (containing all and only the sources cited in the paper) whose format conforms to the following examples:

Example of a book presentation

Kaplan, R.S. & Norton, D.P. (2001) The Strategy-Focused Organization: How Balanced Scorecard Companies Thrive in the New Business Environment, Boston: Harvard Business School Press

Example of an article presentation

Kaplan, R.S. & Norton, D.P. (2004) „How strategy maps frame an organization’s objectives”, Financial Executive, vol. 20, no. 2: 40-45

Example of a document consulted on the Internet

Kellen, V. (2003) „Business performance measurement – at the crossroads of strategy, decision-making, learning and information visualization”, available on-line at www.kellen.net/bpm.htm (one must provide the entire path for the documented consulted and, eventually, the date of the consultation)
